So, Jesse and I have been doing the long distance thing for the entirety of our relationship. For the past couple of month we have been looking at the possibility of Jesse moving to Abilene this summer. However, reality kinda came crashing down on us last week and we were suddenly faced with some huge, life changing decisions. Jesse, very wisely, let me know that although coming to Abilene was great in the short term, he didn't feel as though it would be best for our future family in the long run. I'm not even going to lie....I did not react well to the plans I had made for our life being completely flipped upside down. I was angry and very intentionally said some really hurtful things. Suddenly I was the one having to sacrifice and the thought of what I was giving up scared me to death to be honest. Thursday I had a complete meltdown and ended up leaving Abilene at the last minute to go home. Situation after situation kept running through my head--Do I ask Jesse to pick up and leave even though he might end up unhappy? Do I take a break from school and move to be with him? Do we push the wedding back until I'm done with school? I was completely terrified.
Saturday we were able to meet up in San Antonio and make some decisions. At the Riverwalk we talked and came up with a solution that we both feel at peace about. The plan is to still get married in December. In January I will come back to Abilene and be on the fast track to finish school up by next summer and Jesse will move to Uvalde. We're going to need a lot of prayers and a lot of support as we spend the first 7 months of our marriage apart. We know that it isn't ideal, but given our options we saw it as the best decision by far. I haven't felt this much peace about our future in a while. I wish I had some pictures to put up from the Riverwalk but we're so bad about taking pictures. I'm getting better at this blogging thing though!

It's been a while....
Wow, I knew I probably won't update really frequently but I didn't know I would be this bad of a blogger. But I'm doing it now so that counts for something, right!?
It has been an absolutely crazy few weeks! I had finals two weeks ago at the same time that Jesse was in town for his last round of interviews. Of course with him being there I was nowhere near interested in studying. But I made time and did all right on my finals. Then last week I took a Maymester intensive, meaning class for one week from 8-5. Yes....8 am to 5 pm. Talk about a looooong day. Plus it was over the first five books of the Old Testament. Sure Genesis and Exodus are fun....creation, Eve eats the fruit and now I have killer cramps (*thanks for that, by the way*), Noah build one monstrosity of a boat, Abraham, Moses. But then, Leviticus....really.....proper removal of mold? No fun. Needless to say it was a rough week. But now I am back to work and working full time until school gets out. So much better than school. While I'm here I might as well share what I actually do at work.....
I am a Speech Pathology student at ACU and thanks to some connections my roommate has I got an awesome job with the school district. I work in what's called Language Lab. I work as an aid with an SLP with preschool kids who are really low language. They come in for two hour group therapy sessions. It's so fun to be with (*most*) of the kids and I learn so much from Reyna and Macey. I feel like it's really gotten me ahead as far as school goes. Most people don't this kind of experience until they are out of school and working. It's been a huge blessing and I'm really trying to work my schedule out for next semester to stay on there.
I have more I could write about but I'll save it. This is getting a little long and I'm off to do some wedding shopping!

College Station
This weekend was a reunion weekend! Kambri and Kensie (friends from high school) met me in Abilene on Friday after work and we headed off to College Station to spend the weekend with my best friend, Allison! Four and a half hours, one gas stop, two potty breaks, lots of stories and countless laughs later, we made it to C-Stat.
It was such a great time of catching up. Kambri and I are both engaged and so of course there was plenty of wedding talk. Friday night we went out to dinner and spent the rest of the night laughing and sharing stories of our lives over this past semester. The majority of Saturday was spent shopping. Luckily for my bank account I was able to restrain myself and not spend gobs of money this trip. We made "pan-a-cakes" (Allison's epenthisis) and sausage for a late night dinner.
We have the best time together and I can't wait for the summer when we can all spend more time together. (Pictures soon to come!)
